The self proclaimed party god Andrew W.K. has pulled through with his promise, and announced his newest project, his first full length studio album since The Wolf from the early 2000’s. The currently unnamed album will hit the stores next year on March 2 via Sony Music Worldwide.
“I’m going for the sound of pure, unadulterated power; every emotion, every thought, every experience, every sensation, every fear, every joy, every clarity, every confusion, every up, every down… all extruded and concentrated into one thick syrup of super life-force feeling, and then psychically amplified by the celebratory spirit of glorious partying,” said Andrew in a statement about the upcoming album.
Watch out for Andrew W.K. on The Party Never Dies Fall 2017 tour, his first full band tour in five years, beginning today Sept. 18 in Minneapolis, MN.
In 2001 the singer dropped his debut album called I Get Wet, and has since released reissue along with a special tour where he performed every song from the album at every tour venue. Fans also heard from the singer again when he released Close Calls With Brick Walls in 2006, but due to unknown legal issues, the album was only exclusive to the people of Japan. It wasn’t until 2010 that Andrew W.K. released the CD to the rest of the world with a combined disc two called Mother of Mankind.
While the exact “legal issues” have never been confirmed, MXDWN writer Ashley Campbell said, “he claimed to be the product of a committee of people who got together ‘in the spirit of commerce,’ and even hinted at not actually being the same ‘Andrew WK’ behind the debut I Get Wet album.” One man however, possibly having something to do with the committee, seems to be the one pulling all the strings behind the rock and roll artist we know as the party god. A mysterious figure known as Steev Mike has been listed as a producer behind all of Andrew W.K.’s albums except for Wolf and Close Calls. One thing is for sure, that whoever calls the shots for Andrew W.K., has allowed him to release another album and fans are excited as ever.
