Following a truly horrifying allegation, the members of Polish death metal act Decapitated were arrested on September 8th in Santa Ana, California on kidnapping charges relating to an incident on August 31st in Spokane, Washington. Following the kidnapping allegations, Decapitated were then accused of gang raping the woman they had kidnapped on their bus after a show.
Following the show, the woman went to local police claiming she had been gang-raped by all four members of the band. After reportedly kissing the woman, singer Rafal Piotrowski allegedly started undoing her belt and the woman began resisting. According to count documents, she “attempted to push Piotrowski away but he grabbed her arm and spun her around to where she was facing the sink and mirror in the bathroom. She saw in the mirror and out of the corner of her eye each of the band members taking turns raping her.”
At the moment, both the band, consisting of Michal Lysejko, Waclaw Kieltyka, Rafal Piotrowski, and Hubert Wiecek, and their attorney both deny that such an event ever occurred, with their lawyer claiming there were no eye witnesses to prove the allegations. While under arrest in LA, only one member of the band, guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka, agreed to a DNA test, while the others were non-responsive until a translator was present.
Since their arrest, Decapitated has been held in Los Angeles County Jail awaiting possible extradition to Spokane, Washington. According to KABC, Decapitated went before a judge in Los Angeles on September 12 and agreed to be extradited to Spokane. The court hearing involved all four members of the band, as well as a translator and a representative from the Polish consulate.
Decapitated have denied the accusations against them. “We have witnesses that can testify to the fact that the accuser came to visit the band of her own free will and left on good terms,” a Spokane-based attorney representing the band stated. “Decapitated plan to fully fight the allegations that are brought against them, and we are fully confident that the other side of this story will be heard.”
