Krewella @The Garfield (09/30)

San Francisco, better start getting ready because this Fall is going to be pretty busy! On September 30th, Krewella, our favorite sisters, will be performing at the Warfield venue in San Francisco. So, prepare yourselves because, on the week of  September 25th, your weekend starts on Thursday!

Just a little bit of a background history of Krewella so you can be more familiarized with the band; it is currently formed by two sisters, Johan Yousaf and Yasmine Yousaf. However, the band was originally a trio, formed by both sisters and Kris Trindl.

The band who is recognized for its EDM, dance-pop and dance-rock music, began its music career back in Illinois – Chicago in 2007. Nonetheless, its first release of material, “Life of the Party”, came until 2011. After that, the rest is history.

In 2012, Krewella released their EP Play Hard which reached the 10th position on the Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In 2013, the group’s most successful year released their first proper album- Get Wet-  which included two of the band’s most recognizable singles “Live for the night” and “Alive”. The first single, which was produced along with Cash Cash, topped the Hot Dance Club Party chart of that year, and almost after that release, Krewella released their single “Alive”, which got nearly as much attention as their first proper single. However, there are many other party-mood and danceable singles such as “We go down” and “Enjoy the ride”, which will surely pump you up!

In that same year, the group headlined many music events such as the Ultra Music Festival, the Electric Daisy Carnival, Sunburn Festival and much more. Their talent and success got them to receive the International Dance Music Award for “Best Breakthrough Artist”. However, in 2014 the Kris Trindl left the group, for which the two sisters wrote their single “Say Goodbye” in response to Trindl’s leave. Nevertheless, both sisters continued on their journey to make music and in 2016 they released two of their best singles “Superstar” and “Beggars”, which have gotten a more dubstep, but still danceable tune to it!

Krewella is best known for starting as an EDM music group, but with time, they’ve been influenced by other sounds such as dubstep, but they always seem to go back to their EDM roots! So, without saying anything else, there’s only one thing to say, on Thursday, September 30th, we are all gonna live for the night!
