Sometimes we all get tired of social media and just need to unplug for awhile. Our favorite artist and celebrities feel the same way as well. If your a huge fan of the band Passion Pit and love to keep up with them on social media you might be disappointed to find their Twitter and Instagram accounts have been deactivated. Unlike Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey who kept their accounts, but deleted the majority of their post, Passion Pit’s social media accounts are completely gone.
Whatever the case is, Frontman Michael Angelakos is getting involved with a new anti-suicide and mental health awareness campaign called “I’m Listening.” Angelakos and other celebrities such as Logic, Halsey, Khalid, Jack Antonoff, and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic will partner up with the radio network Entercom for a two-hour long discussion on national sucide prevention day, September 10th, about their experience with mental health issues. A team of mental health experts will also be involved with the broadcast to share advice and resources for those dealing with mental health illnesses.
Angelakos has also launched his own mental health advocacy organization called The Wishart Group, which will be devoted to providing mental health services to musicians who don’t have health insurance. Angelakos has been more open recently about his personal struggles with depression and bipolar disorder, something he has battled with since he was a teenager.
Anglakos said this about the organization, “The group develops solutions, addressing every single problem I’ve had as a musician, person in the media industry, as a citizen and a person with mental health issues — all of which I have found to be very common or pretty universal”. More details are set to be released in the coming months but it appears that The Wishart Group has grand ambitions in mind, focusing on the helping those artists who struggle with mental health issues.”
