There’s arguably no fandom more deserving of new material than that of Ted Leo, who’s been holding out on pop punk gold since their last album The Brutalist Bricks in 2010. Now, the artist is going solo and has plans to release his brand new album The Hanged Man on Sept. 8. Following “You’re Like Me,” the first single to be released from the upcoming album, his newest track “Can’t Go Back” is equally as charming as it is catchy and arguably makes up for Leo’s dry years because of its spectacular quality. Check out the new song below.
The Hanged Man will be self-funded, after Leo and his band the Pharmacists began a Kickstarter campaign for the album, in order to raise money and assure the project would be released. Patrons and fans were able to donate any amount of money to the cause, and a hefty donation of $4,500 would’ve landed a lucky fan one private solo show in the location of their choice.
In a few days Ted Leo will be in New York City headlining at 2017’s Seaport Music Festival alongside The Make-Up And Martin Rev. Lucky fans attending the show will more than likely get a first taste of The Hanged Man live in concert.
UPDATE (9/7): Ted Leo has released a 70’s style video for “Can’t Go Back.” Check it out below.
