Deer Tick are some folk/alt rockers hailing from Providence, Rhode Island and have been active for over ten years now, morphing the genres of country and folk and rock. Today, just in time for the last dog days of summer and the early rumblings of fall, the group released a new song for you to sit out and drink some pumpkin spice to.
The new track “Card House,” was self-released by the band this morning, and features a distinct bluegrass/folk feel will containing some rock and pop elements. “You can sail away on the finest timbers, I can run your ship aground” they lackadaisically sing. The new track contains all the hallmarks of their sounds, bright and folk/bluegrass-inspired strings, heavier-rock drums and a catchy pop melody all combine on this sunny new track.
“Card House,” will appear on one of their two upcoming albums Deer Tick Vol. 1. The band will also release a Vol. 2, and the two LP’s (their first in four years) will be show off two distinct flavors of the band; one with “mellower, roots-infused writing and [another with] rock/punk-inspired songs.”
Along with the two new albums, the band will be playing at the upcoming American Music Conference in Nashville on September 13 and 14, each with their own accompanying theme. The first set (13) will reflect Vol. 2, while the September 14th set will be entirely acoustic, reflecting the more folk-inspired music of Vol. 1, a similar setup to their Twice is Nice tour. The group also released the track “Jumpstarting,” last month.
