Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett Reveal Collaborative Album Lotta Sea Lice Will Be Released in October 2017

For the past couple of months, indie rock fans have been salivating at the idea that Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett would be releasing a collaboration. There were series of news articles published that seemed to indicate a collaborative album was on the way, particularly when the two announced a string of North American tour dates.

Well, the wait is over as Rolling Stone has reported that the collaborative album Lotta Sea Lice will see release this October. Earlier this year as Vile was touring Australia in support of his latest release, the critically acclaimed b’lieve i’m goin’ down…, he met up with Barnett, and the two spent a couple of weeks working on recording material. The new album promises to be an intriguing mix of both artists distinct styles and will surely please fans of both artists.

The album will feature plenty of brand new material in addition to reworkings and reinterpretations of each other’s solo material, and a few choice covers, including “Untogether” by Belly and “Fear Is Like a Forest,” by Jen Cloher.

For their upcoming fall tour the duo will be backed by The Sea Lice, a band consisting of members of Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, Warpaint, The Violators, The Swirlies, Mice Parade and Harkin.
