According to Pitchfork and MTV, the band Chvrches will appear as comic book characters in Archie Comics’ new series “The Archies,”. Not a role you typically see band members take on. Chvrches will make a small appearance at the end of the “The Archies #2” and then dive into your pages by playing a bigger role in the next release, where they will serve as guides to the Riverdale crew’s new band.
Alex Segura, writer of the comics, says, “Chvrches’ comic book energy and modern, fun vibe” is what inspired them to include the band in the next series. Most specifically the band’s frontwoman Lauren Mayberry will serve as a mentor to Betty and Veronica.
The Archie Comics have been an extremly popular comic series for a long time now. The comic’s were actually inspired by the Andy Hardy movie series, starring Mickey Rooney. The comic series was so popular back in the day it was played on the radio for over a decade. The comic series even had a lot of TV spin-offs but none of them were very successful until the CW’s Riverdale at least.
As far as other plans for the band Chvrches goes the band is coming off the success of their highly acclaimed album Every Open Eye and have been touring North America throughout 2015 and 2016. We hope to hear to some music from them soon.
