Post-punk band Protomartyr just released a brand new song called “My Children” from their upcoming album Relatives In Descent and if the song is any indication of what the album might sound like, get ready for one of their greatest creations thus far. The track’s theme surrounds the inevitable baggage that comes with growing up, after they must deal with the troubles their parents and the world pass onto them. Scroll below to check out the whole song.
“My Children” is one of the first songs to be released from the upcoming album, right behind “A Private Understanding.” While fans will have to wait until Sept. 29 to listen to the whole piece, the album is now available for pre-order both digitally and in hard copy.
In late 2016, the group released a new song entitled “Born to be Wine,” and MXDWN writer Christopher Lee said that frontman Joe Casey “presents his usual talk-sing mixture while a loud lead guitar explores the darkest, creepiest sounds its fretboard can muster while drowning in reverb.”
The same year, Protomartyr made a headline performance for 4Knots Festival 2016 alongside Girlpool, and Car Seat Headrest.
