Alice Glass Surprise Releases Self-Titled Debut Solo EP

Former Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass dropped a brand new EP yesterday as reported by Pitchfork. This marks her first series of recordings as solo artist. This announcement follows the release of her 2nd solo single “Without Love” which was released earlier this month. Her first solo release came in the form of the stand-alone single “Stillbirth” from 2015. The EP was written and produced by Glass, with additional production help coming from Jupiter Keyes (Health) and Loma Vista Recordings handled the EP’s release.

Glass initially rose to fame as the lead singer of Crystal Castles, with the duo gaining a significant amount of notoriety for their music and live performances over the course of their first three albums together. However, Glass left Crystal Castles amid of flurry of controversy in 2014, trading verbal jabs with founding member Ethan Kath over Glass’s musical input in the group.

Controversy arose when Kath resurrected Crystal Castles with a new lead singer in 2015. Subsequently, he downplayed the creative input Glass had in the duo, claiming that he was the chief lyric writer and that Glass had not performed on the group’s most well-known songs. Glass fired back stating that Kath’s behavior was manipulative and was the main reason why she walked away from the duo in the first place.

Glass will be going on tour this fall as an opening act for Marilyn Manson in addition to playing select headlining shows.
