Lana Del Rey @Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (09/05)

Indie Pop Artist Lana Del Rey will be performing at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium this September 5th. I guarantee you that if you like pop, jazz, and indie, Lana Del Rey’s concert is a must for you. The “femme fatale” will take you out of your comfort zone with her deep sad-core lyrics and make you relate to every story behind the song.

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, better known as Lana del Rey, was born in New York to a wealthy family but her journey as a singer started until she finished high-school and moved to Long Island with her aunt and uncle. The Indie-Pop star, known for her Southern California classy but lonely style, learned how to play guitar and started writing songs but it was until 2005 when her career as a singer started getting serious when she finished her album Sirens and released it under the name of Jailer. In 2006 Elizabeth went used to use the name of Lizzy Grant but two years after became Lana Del Rey. In 2010 she released an album called Lana Del Rey, which put her in contact with managers Ben Mawson and Ed Millet who helped her create her persona in England. Nonetheless, in 2011, Lana Del Rey began to rise to fame with her pop-singles “Video Games” and “Blue Jeans”. Del Rey’s full debut album, Born to Die, was released in 2012 and became a solid seller. One of her biggest and most successful releases up until now came in 2013, “Young and Beautiful”, which was adapted for the film The Great Gatsby. However, a few months later, the “Young and Beautiful” hit was surpassed by the Cedric Garvais remix of her track “Summertime Sadness” of her Born to Die album. In 2015 Del Rey confirmed she would be releasing a new album with a new sound, something completely different to her previous albums. This change was mainly seen in “High by the Beach” and “Terrence Loves You” singles which made it to the Billboard 200. Later on, she contributed vocals to The Weeknd’s “Starboy” single and later on started working on her Lust for Life album which was released this year.

Lana Del Rey has a truly unique sound and style that everyone seems to love, she has this vintage sound that it actually makes you feel like you’re traveling to the past. Moreover, her approach to songs varies greatly because she doesn’t go with the pop songs status quo.  Del Rey’s songs, style, and sound are great because you go from a dark and lonely mood to a feminine innocence, or vice-versa, but always keeping it pop and jazzy. So if you feel like this sounds cool and interesting you should plan on going!
