New Death From Above Album To Be Titled Outrage! Is Now and Released September 2017

Last month dance punk duo Death From Above released their first new song since 2014’s long-awaited sophomore release The Physical World, a piano-heavy cut titled “Freeze Me.” As recently promised, Sebastien Grainger and bassist Jesse F. Keeler will not make fans wait a full decade to hear their next album. According to label representatives, Death From Above will be releasing their third LP Outrage! Is Now on September 7, 2017 through Warner Brothers Records.

In addition to a new song and planning to release a new album, the band has dropped the “1979” from their moniker. As announced previously, the duo will now be referred to by their original name Death From Above. After a legal issue arose from James Murphy’s DFA Records, who felt the band’s name would cause confusion between the label and the band, they tacked on the numerals.

The band made waves early in their career with a mix of danceable grooves, punk rock tempos and metallic guitar riffs. The band’s debut You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine was critically acclaimed and brought the band a massive underground audience.

Keeler and Grainger then took a full decade to follow that groundbreaking debut with The Physical World in 2014. Released on Warner Brothers Records, it faired well commercially, hitting #28 in the United States and #3 in their native Canada.

If their new single is any indication, the duo have continued to evolve their sound. “Freeze Me” is built around a simple yet addictive piano loop, adding their off-kilter dance-punk influence to pop sensibilities and a huge, radio-appropriate chorus.
