Lorde Covers Paul Simon Hit “Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard” with Jack Antonoff At Outside Lands 2017

New Zealand singer songwriter Lorde was one of the several headlining artist for this year’s Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco and to the surprise of her audience, she brought out special surprise guest and close friend to perform a classic song on stage with her. Jack Antonoff, who collaborated with Lorde for her most recent album Melodrama, walked onto center stage with a guitar in hand, ready to put on a quaint performance of Paul Simon’s 1972 track “Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard.” The duo sat down together side by side at the edge of the main stage, with the beautiful Golden Gate Park as their backdrop. Scroll below to catch footage of the intimate performance.

Paul Simon’s influence can be found within Lorde’s newest music, and on the day of her record release for Melodrama earlier this summer, she Tweeted that she sampled him on her newest album’s sixth track called “Hard Feelings/Loveless.”

The singer has been slaying the world’s festival scene, headlining several festivals like Osheaga where she sang a duet with Tove Lo, Life Is Beautiful Festival, and Lollapalooza before bad weather forced them to cancel. She has already announced Fall 2017 tour dates and will be promoting her album Melodrama which dropped earlier this summer.
