Seaport Music Festival Announces 2017 Lineup Featuring Ted Leo, The Make-Up And Martin Rev

As reported by Brooklyn Vegan, the Seaport Music Festival will be returning for the first time since 2014 to celebrate its 15th anniversary on September 7th-10th. Each night will be curated by a different artist, with Ted Leo, Jonathan Toubin and The Dance Cartel each hosting a different night.

The Dance Cartel will be curating Wet Clutch which is billed as “an immersive drive-in dance experience that reinterprets and remixes movie heroines from the last four decades of American film.” The Seaport Music Festival has become widely known as the launching place for many famous indie bands, with the likes of Animal Collective, The XX, Dr. Dog, The National and Sufjan Stevens all playing at the festival.

Ted Leo is currently gearing up for his first ever solo release The Hanged Man which will be coming out this September. It is his first to be released without his backing band The Pharmacists.

The legendary Martin Rev, known for his work in the pioneering New York electronic duo Suicide will be making an appearance.  Rev’s synthesizer work on the self-titled Suicide album remains incredibly influential in establishing electronic music as a viable art form.

The festival will also feature a performance by the reunited post-punk band The Make-Up. Originally formed by ex-Nation of Ulysses frontman Ian Svenonius, the band became known in the late 90’s punk underground for their incendiary live performances and radical political views.

Located in lower Manhattan at the South Street Seaport, the festival has routinely drawn over 4,000 fans during its initial run from 2002 to 2014 and this latest incarnation of the festival looks to equal the popularity of previous incarnations.

As usual, the festival will be free and open to the public.
