Caveman @ Dr. Martens Soho 8/24

For Brooklyn-based indie rockers, it’ll be a short commute to get to the Dr.Martens store in Soho for this free show. (And who doesn’t love a free show?!) Caveman got their start back in 2011 with their self-released album called Coco Beware before Fat Possum Records scooped the guys up and re-released that album just a few years later. They then released a self-titled record, followed by Otero War just last year (and yes, fans were waiting anxiously).

The band got started playing indie venues around the city like Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge and Pianos, and since then they’ve been all over everywhere on tour (playing major fests like SWSW and Shaky Knees), which also helped strengthen their sound and chemistry as a band. (Hell, they even have Julia Stiles in one of their videos, too.)

But when it comes to Caveman’s music, which is dreamy-indie and super punchy (imagine a twist of My Morning Jacket), they don’t hold anything back when it comes to playing hard. They are one of those amazing under-the-radar bands whose songs never fail to deliver, whether live or with headphones, and this show will be no different. Hey, it’s New York, and hey, it’s a local gig, and hey, it’s free–what else do you need?
