Metal bands The Body and Full of Hell just announced that they are joining forces for a new album. The new album, Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light, will be a collaborative effort between the two and will drop November 17th through Thrill Jockey records.
The two parties previously collaborated on the LP One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache back in 2016, and while some may question the decision to collaborate on a second project, the two parties see it as a natural evolution of their sounds and creative output.
“We just felt like we had more to say,” says Full of Hell frontman Dylan Walker to TeamRock. “For the record, The Body are probably my favorite active band. The first collaboration was a very fun process for everyone and we didn’t feel like we had to strain ourselves to produce material. Their work is inspiring and we really connect as a group.”
The Body shared sentiments, coming from drummer Lee Buford. “I don’t really see the collaboration stuff we do as that unusual. I guess if I ever felt like we didn’t have anything to say then I might be wary of putting out so much stuff but there’s different ways of expressing things and this gives us the opportunity to use a different means of expression. Plus, we’re really good friends with Full of Hell, so it’s a pretty easy decision to work with them.”
In addition to the album announcement, the group dropped off the first single “Earth is a Cage,” and it will smack you straight across your face. Press play to lose your mind and check out the tracklist for the new LP below.
Full of Hell are currently slated to go tour on with Cattle Decapitation and Revocation this fall, and recently released their latest LP, Trumpeting Ecstasy.
