Sinead O’Connor Opens Up About Her Mental Illness in Emotional Facebook Video

Sinead O’Connor released a tear-jerking video on Facebook that has fans worried about her well-being.  Thousands of fans expressed their concern after they saw O’Connor in a motel room talking about her family abandoning her in the wake of a mental illness.  Fans overwhelmed the singer with love and support after she said she was feeling suicidal.  She also mentioned that she felt like she was being punished for having a mental illness.  The video was released on August 3, 2017.  It racked up some views after concerned fans started sharing it to their friends.
It’s been shared almost 10 thousand times on facebook and has been viewed over a million times since that day.

O’Connor uses the hashtag #OneOfMillions in hopes that this video helps fans get through the same struggles she has been facing. She hopes the emotional video is somehow helpful to the millions of people who need support:

“Not actually to me but the fact that I know that I’m only one of millions of millions of millions of people who are just like me actually who don’t have necessarily the resources that I have in my heart or my purse for that matter.”

Fans have been alarmed by O’Connor because of a few other social media postings. In 2015 she posted on her facebook page that she overdosed after a custody battle involving her youngest son. She was later found by police and was “safe and sound.”

Another alarming incident happened in Chicago early last year.  She went out for a bike ride at 6 A.M. and did not return.  It was another false alarm and she was completely unharmed.

Fans remain concerned for O’Connor since 2015 when she cancelled her summer tour due to an unresolved medical situation.  it is reported that she suffers from PTSD which combines her depression and suicidal tendencies.

In the latest incident, after other singers and fans reached out to O’Connor, a follow-up post on her facebook page stated that the artist was surrounded by loving people and receiving the best of care.

CNN recently reached out to O’Connor’s representatives for comment.

The now 50-year-old Irish singer rose to fame in the late 1980’s with her debut album The Lion and the Cobra . She has ten solo albums along with singles and collaborations.

One of her most famous songs “Nothing Compares 2 U” was written in 1990 when it topped the charts in 13 countries. Her close-up video with an all black turtle-neck shirt became an iconic video of the 20th century. Toward the end of the video two tears roll down her face, one on each cheek. She later stated that those tears weren’t just for the video. She said they were triggered after she thought of her mother who dies in a car accident in 1985. The video became one of the most recognizable music videos of the 1990s.
