Anton Newcombe, the lead singer of the band The Brian Jonestown Massacre may have got more than he bargained for after he shared the news that he will be getting back in the studio in the near future to record a new album. Newcombe joked (?) on Twitter with Mark Lanegan about providing some vocals for the new album and the singer quickly expressed his interest. Not long after, several other incredible musicians chimed in as well with their interest in helping out on the long-running and ultra-prolific psych-rock band’s latest studio album.
Newcombe and company have been very busy as usual, releasing Third World Pyramid in 2016, Musique de Film Imaginé and the mini-LP Mini Album Thingy Wingy in 2015.
Anton Newcome initially announces the new album and jokes with Mark Lanegan about working together.
Singer Mark Lanegan replied saying he’s down.
Peter Hook, bass player for New Order and Joy Division also said he’s willing to help out.
Italian musician Alessandro Cortini, who’s been a part of Nine Inch Nails and SONOIO, and recently announced a new project with drone artist Daniel Avery, chimed in as well.
Singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins wants to join in on the fun as well.
Peter Hook gives it one last shot.
While we’re not sure that any of these legendary musicians are all that serious about making these collaborations happen, we can certainly keep our fingers crossed!
