For Andy Suzuki & The Method, playing Mercury Lounge is a local show. This pop-alt group is based in Brooklyn, so all they have to do is hop the bridge and they’ll be there. Just this year they released their much-anticipated second album called The Glass Hour, which was released four years after their first full-length called Born Out of Mischief.
Music for Andy Suzuki first started sort of accidentally as a young kid, and after taking the solo in school that nobody else wanted to take, he’s made music his main choice in life. He started the band back at Brown in the mid-2000s, linking up with Kozza Babuma, and they’ve been making music ever since. The band has opened for artists like Joshua Radin, Eric Hutchinson and Delta Rae.
Andu Suzuki & The Method’s vibe is energetic folk with a pop twist. And getting stuck in one genre isn’t something that they want to happen. As long as they keep plugging away and making music that makes people feel, then that’s their greatest hope. Songs like “I Can’t Live” and “Fire” from their latest album are prime examples of these feel-good, sunny, quirky tunes.
