Tori Amos Debuts Inspirational New Song “Cloud Riders”

Tori Amos was one of those artists that lit up the music scene and changed a generation with her influential sound. Her natural voice told a narrative story through each one of her songs and made a listener feel like they were falling into their own soul searching rabbit hole.

Hardcore fans will be happy to know that Amos is back again with her fifteenth album, titled Native Invader which is set to be released on September 8th, 2017. To prepare fans of the new album, Amos recently released a new single titled “Cloud Riders.”

The track debuted with NPR music and is available to post and share here.

Amos shares her inspiration behind the track by expressing that;

“Before the Storm, at 4:22 AM,
I saw a shooting star.
Some Storms are electrifying
but some Storms are deadly.
Life Changing.
Some resolve themselves,
Some don’t.
Conflicts can be that way.
You don’t know how a conflict is going to play out when you are in the middle of it.
And the one thing I have learned is that when the Cloud Riders are coming, they cannot be outrun.”

The lyrics to “Cloud Riders” touch on storms, natural disasters, and how the heals after them. Lyrics like “Underneath the stars above, I said, ‘No, stop,'” she sings. “I am not giving up on us / And I am not going anywhere soon.”

The album is an intense insight following a year of soul searching and heartache. During the summer of 2016, Tori Amos took a road trip through the smoky mountains of North Carolina. Her goal was to reconnect with the stories and songlines of her mother’s family who hailed from that area. Two events that winter turned Amos’s plan upside down; the catastrophic US election and the sudden stroke that left her mother unable to speak.

Fans know that Tori Amos’s music has the power to mend and heal one’s soul just by pressing play.

According to Amos, “It wasn’t going to be a record of pain, blood and bone when I began,” she says. “It wasn’t going to be a record of division. But the Muses 9 insisted that I listened and watched the conflicts that were traumatizing the nation and write about those raw emotions.  Hopefully people will find strength and resilience within the songs to give them the energy to survive the storms that we are currently in.”

Nature Invaders is her first album since 2014’s Unrepentant Geraldines, her eighth Billboard Top 10 album. Nature Invaders will be available to purchase both physically and digitally as well as a vinyl which will be released later this fall.
