Arcade Fire Initially Require Dress Code for Brooklyn Show Before Denying It

Arcade Fire is known for throwing costume parties with fans back in 2013, but they faced backlash for telling fans to dress nicely. Despite the controversy, the band is apparently still telling fans they need to dress up for their upcoming tour, but they reaffirmed that the new rules are “super not mandatory.”

According to Brooklyn Vegan, The Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn told fans going to the Arcade Fire concert they need to dress “hip and trendy.” The venue says concertgoers are not allowed to wear shorts, large logos, crop tops, baseball caps, or solid white or red clothing, and they “reserve the right to deny entry to anyone dressed inappropriately.”

The venue also says cell phones, smart watches, and other recording devices will have to be checked into a Yondr pouch before entering the show.

Arcade Fire, who is known for songs such as Reflektor and Everything Now, fired back on Twitter saying their is no dress code at all. “If dress code is ‘hip and trendy,’ band members will not be allowed through the door, hip and trendy people will have to play the music. The band also tweeted ‘Wear whatever you want to any show.’ This has been an actual band announcement. “The band also denied being involved with taking phones and watches saying, “it must be an Apple thing.”

Arcade Fire’s new album Everything Now comes out this Friday after the Brooklyn show. Check out their Tweets below:
