According to The Prp, hardcore punk band The Bronx have announced that they will be releasing a new album, V on September 22nd. The album title refers to the fact that this will be the group’s 5th album, and it is their first album of hardcore music since 2013’s self-titled release. This will mark the recording debut of new drummer David Hildalgo Jr. who joined the band last year. Hidalgo is known for his work in Social Distortion and Suicidal Tendencies.

The Bronx have also released a new song and a new music video for the song “Sore Throat.” The video features a grainy and distorted television set alternating between movie clips designed to invoke old, warped vhs tapes.

Sonically speaking the track is another crushing bit of hardcore: featuring aggressively dissonant riffs, slamming drums, and the caustic vocal delivery of Matt Caughthran. After a few years of playing mariachi music in their alter-ego band Mariachi El Bronx, fans of the band’s hardcore style should be pleased with their return to form. V was produced by Rob Schnapf, known for his work with Beck and Elliot Smith.
