Myrkur Releases First Ever English Language Song “Shadows of Silence”

Myrkur has been slowly gearing up for her anticipated new album, Mareridt. The new LP, out September 15th is promising to be amazing. Before the drop however, Myrkur decided to give her English fans new track to buy the time until the close of summer.

The new track, “Shadows of Silence,” is her first English language track. While it’s not her native language, Myrkur is still in her element. Slow, airy and atmospheric instrumentals set the vibe as her angelic (although that feels like an understatement on this track) vocals lull the listener into a trance over some skeletal drums. Even in the chorus, when the drums tighten up a bit on the hi-hats and with some double bass, she keeps you in a trance.

But if you know Myrkur, you know she loves contrasts. Just as she can contrast between open and airy and trance-inducing, she can get downright heavy. The second half of the track features the drums go into all out Slayer mode, as distorted screams screech out above them. And just like that, Myrkur is back with her soft vocals.

Unfortunately, the new track will not be a part of her upcoming LP. Instead, the English track is set to be included on a flexi disc for an upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine. Stream the new track below, and if you haven’t check out Myrkur’s first single for her upcoming work.
