After a long while, Passion Pit has finally announced that their latest album, Tremendous Sea of Love, will be available on streaming platforms on July 28. The record had become available earlier this year when frontman Michael Angelakos sent the files to anyone who had retweeted in support of the #weneedscience movement, and continued to release the songs one by one.
In a passionate, powerful personal statement titled “I Call It A Sea of Love” posted on both Instagram and Facebook, Angelakos details his fight with mental illness (Bipolar I Disorder), which is what both Tremendous Sea of Love and various previous songs have been centered around. He announced that all royalties collected from Tremendous Sea of Love will be donated to the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at Broad Institute.
“To the people that spend their lives saving my life, who develop the science for the people who go to the front lines and treat my illness in the medical community, and to the people that I hurt, that have hurt, that will hurt and that want to help those who hurt, this is for you,” Angelakos wrote in the statement.
