Music Midtown started in 1994 and was founded by music producers Peter Conlon and his business partner Alex Cooley. It ran to 2005 before going on a six-year hiatus in 2006. The hiatus came from lack of attendees and rising expenses after the 2005 Music Midtown. It returned in 2011 and has been going strong ever since. During the 2016 Music Midtown, attendance was up to 130,000 which brought in an estimated $8.6 million ticket sales.

The weekend long festival will be held at Piedmont Park on September 16th-17th. General admission and VIP passes for the weekend festival are officially on sale now through their official website.
