Vans Warped Tour, who’s announced their 2017 lineup, has cancelled the Warped Tour date in Wilmington, NC on July 4th. There has been some concerns about “safety for concert goers” and “financial viability for ticket buyers”.
According to The PRP, Malissa Talbert, the Wilmington Communications Manager, stated “It is unfortunate we are unable to hold the Warped Tour at Legion Stadium as we had worked for months to try and make it happen. However, events held at city facilities must be hosted by groups with the ability to provide safety for concert goers as well as financial viability for ticket buyers. We hope we can host similar events here in the future.”
The Warped Tour posted a statement on their website about the situation saying “To all our fans – it is never easy to do this, but due to circumstances beyond our control we have been forced to cancel the 7.04 Wilmington, NC show. From the Vans Warped Tour team, the bands, and all of our sponsors, we are truly sorry that this had to happen. We were completely blind-sided by the city of Wilmington, NC and have tried to work through everything as fast as we could.” The statement also mentions about the decision between them and their partner HUKA Entertainment and the officials of Wilmington. Since the officials did not have a “contractual agreement” with Huka Productions, the city gave permits that allowed Warped to have the show. There were challenges that hindered Warped to have an inability to carry on with the show.
Along with the explanation, the Warped Tour team adds three options about what to do with the ticket that has already been purchased. The first option is using the ticket at another date, the second is refunding online, the third is refunding through Journeys.
