St. Vincent Releases Melancholy New Song “New York”

Annie Clark, known by her stage name of St. Vincent, has released a new song, the brooding piano ballad “New York.” The multi-instrumentalist has recently announced a new tour this fall, which seems to indicate that she will be releasing a new album to accompany the tour. Over the past decade, Clark has built up a considerable following and has emerged as one of the most talked about musicians in modern music, capturing both critical and commercial acclaim. Clark has been busy in recent years, launching a line of signature Music Man guitars and directing her first film as part of the all female horror anthology XX.

“New York” is a stylistic departure for St. Vincent as it is entirely piano based, instead of the experimental guitar driven rock she has been known for. While it may be a bit different from her earlier material, “New York” is a strong composition that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Clark has made it clear that this new release will be vastly different from her previous releases. Music fans have been eagerly awaiting any album announcement as anticipation has been building since the release of her self-titled album in 2014, which won numerous awards as well as a Grammy win. While their has been no formal announcement for her new record, with a new single and new tour dates it is only a matter of time before a new St. Vincent album drops. “New York” is embedded below:
