Arcade Fire have released another new video from their forthcoming album Everything Now, the dazzling “Signs of Life.” The video is the third single to be released, following “Everything Now” and “Creature Comfort”. Visually the video features plenty of eye catching editing and sequencing to complement the slick dance-rock of the song. This has the effect of catching the viewers eye and holding their attention throughout the video.
Directed by Mayer/Leyva and starring Shariff Earp and Carly Mark as secret agents in Miami, the video combines quirky action sequences, smooth dance moves, and an engaging plot that sees Earp and Mark evading and pursuing a number of individuals as they try to find signs of alien life. The editing gives a sense of action and mystery to the plot, and serves to make the video appear much longer than its runtime, fitting in shot after gorgeous shot.
Musically speaking the song continues in the vein of the previous two singles that have been released, showcasing a more deliberate and dance influenced direction from the band. Featuring an array of slinking rhythms and funky guitar lines, the song continues to push the sonic boundaries for the critically acclaimed band.
Arcade Fire are gearing up for a big 2017 as they have also announced a lengthy itinerary of concert dates in support of Everything Now, which will be released on July 28th. The album and the supporting tour mark a return to full band activity for the group after a brief hiatus following their last release, Reflektor.
