The Melvins Release New Song “What’s Wrong with You”

Legendary alternative metal band The Melvins have released a new song for Metal Hammer, the frenetic “What’s Wrong with You.” The single is off their new album A Walk with Love and Death and features bassist Steve McDonald taking on lead vocals and That Dog’s Anna Waronker on backing vocals.

The track is speedy and punky take on the classic Melvins sound, with plenty of screeching guitar playing from Buzz Osbourne in addition to the pummeling drum/bass combo of Dale Crover and McDonald.

The song is in stark contrast to the slow sludge of “Christ Hammer” one of the other new singles from the record, which indicates a great deal of variety on this recording. When asked by Metal Hammer about the song, Osbourne commented “There’s no other song on this record that sounds like it, and that’s what makes it so cool!”

A Walk with Love and Death is a double album split into two discs, Death and Love. Love will be featured as the soundtrack to the short film A Walk With Love And Death, directed by Jesse Nieminen. This marks the 24th studio album from the band, who burst onto the underground punk and metal scene thirty years ago with the sludgy Gluey Porch Treatments.

A Walk with Love and Death will be released on July 7th on Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings.
