Soon after announcing their first new music in four years, alternative rock outfit Deer Tick announced an extensive tour called the Twice Is Nice Tour, that will take them coast to coast right up until early December.
Deer Tick will be performing two sets at each venue. The first would be a stripped-down, acoustic performance, and after an intermission, the band returns for a full electric set. And a comedian will be featured as the opener on the tour.
Last week, Deer Tick had announced that it will be releasing two new albums on September 15th via Partisan Records, Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2. The records are the first Deer Tick albums since 2013’s Negativity, but thankfully, the band will be satisfying anxious fans with a slew of new material.
The two new albums were both recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN, each contrasting in style to showcase the differing personalities of the band.
Vol. 1 will feature some edgy folk rock that had brought Deer Tick to the iPods of many a listener, while Vol. 2 is more focused on punk and power pop influences, with “addictive hooks and soaring melodies.”
Hopefully, both records will have something to show for the band’s longtime absence, with some quality material.
Deer Tick will be kicking off the fall tour with a gig at the Americana Music Conference in Nashville, where they will perform two shows over two nights.
Last week, tickets for all three nights of their annual Deer Tick & Friends Newport Folk Festival After Parties sold out in under a minute. Additionally, the group’s premiere performance of Deer Tick Vol. 1 will take place during a special July 29 show at the Jane Pickens Theater. That show, billed as Clusterfolk, also sold out immediately.
