No, you didn’t hear it wrong. The post-punk band The Fall definitely is playing their first show in ten years, and yes they’re playing five shows at Baby’s All Right. The Fall has been described as being one of the most legendary post-punk bands ever, and with 32 studio albums attached to their name they have an insane amount of songs to choose from in order to deliver the kind of high-energy performance that fans would expect from such a cult-like band (who will forever be abrasive and super anti-mainstream in the best possible way, of course).
The Fall began back in the late 1970s in Manchester and underwent several lineup changes since then, but frontman Mark E. Smith has remained a staple since the beginning, as he continues to embody everything that has to do with being in an aggressively fearless punk band. And they just keep going. Their latest album called New Facts Emerge was released just this year (another album that showcases their ever-evolving sound when it comes to the post-punk genre). But to be a band for over thirty years (and to keep things interesting) they had to challenge their sound and keep exploring. None of their albums really sound the same, but you can always tell that it’s The Fall based off of their gritty, deconstructed, cult-style approach to making music.
And now The Fall are back, playing five shows at Baby’s All Right, which will undoubtedly be a complete surge of the most mind-blowing pure-punk chaos ever.
