Mastodon fans better gear up for this fall because the heavy metal band is hitting the road for a massive tour that will stretch from June all the way to October. Beginning on June 12, the group will kick off the tour in London at the Metal Hammer Awards Show and circle the globe until they’re back in London again to close off the tour at the Britton Academy. Supporting bands for the shows include Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles. Click below for the complete itinerary for the tour.

Mastodon seems to also be a part of the festival circuit as well, making several stops to perform at the Download festival in Madrid, Artefacts Festival in France, High Elevation Festival in Colorado, and the Tuska Open Air Festival in Finland.

The band will be celebrating their most recent album entitled Emperor of Sand, which the Los Angeles Times called “a further evolution of the band’s fusion of metal and prog-rock interests. It’s music of complexity and feeling.”

The Alternative Press also weighed in on the album, saying “There is only one band that can go from extreme metal to classic rock and somehow make it all sound seamless, and that band is Mastodon.”

McKenzie Dillon: University of Nevada, Reno Alumna. I graduated with a major in writing and a minor in journalism. I enjoy reading, writing, and listening to music of course. I was raised in the bay area, and am thrilled to be living back in California. Catch me at your local music festival, because there's nothing better than laying back in the grass and listening to your favorite bands or discovering new ones.
