Mystery still shrouds the tragic death of Prince, the music icon that defied genre. Last year, the death of Prince sent shockwaves around the world and information regarding his death is still being discovered to this day.
In a new documentary as part of the Autopsy series, information about his death is being revealed by Dr. Michael Hunter, the doctor who has been studying the music icon’s health records for the episode
Prince, who was found in his Paisley Park home, had died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl according to the medical examiner. Fentanyl is considered to be “the most powerful painkiller on the market.” According to Dr. Hunter, he is sure that the star got the medication illegally since there was no record of any prescription being filled.
According to his findings, Prince had reached for what he thought was his Percocet pills but inadvertently reached for something much more stronger than what he realized.
Part of the episode goes into information that reveals Prince may have been dealing with drug addiction and that he may have suffering from withdrawals. The symptoms that Prince was dealing with in the week leading up to his tragic death mirrors what one would have during drug withdrawals. That, according to Dr. Hunter; “The fever, nausea and cramps that he was experiencing, according to the chef, may have caused him to relapse and reach for what he thought was a familiar painkiller,”
Though it is unclear that Prince knew what he was taking that night “I think that Prince probably didn’t know that the pills he took that night (20Apr16) had Fentanyl in them. I believe Prince died from a tragic accident bordering on homicide.”
Prince’s step-sister’s Lorna Nelson who is featured in the new documentary along side Prince biographer Mick Wall and the attorney for the step-sister Michael Padden expresses their fears for the star. Padden states that his client thought that her brother’s cocaine use was so significant that there was fear that the artists would suffer a heart attack or worse.
Padden also states that; “Cocaine gave him energy to the point that he would have trouble falling asleep for days, and the reason that he took the Percocet was to come down from the euphoric high of the cocaine.”
Whether these reports are accurate or not, the death of Prince will always be a mystery even to those who knew him. The Autopsy episode featuring Prince will air sometime in the near future and hopefully will shed some more light on what expired that fateful night.
