TMZ has obtained the toxicology report from the night that Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell passed away, and it shows various amounts of prescription drugs in his system. These drugs included Naloxone (Narcan) – administered to fight the effects of an opioid overdose, Butalbital – a sedative, Lorazepam – the Ativan that Cornell reportedly was given by a bodyguard, Pseudoephedrine – a decongestant and unspecified barbiturates.
The story goes on the elaborate that he appears to have taken a total of four Lorazepam (Ativan) pills. The toxicology report seems to back up the statement Cornell’s family released just days after his death blaming Ativan, and following the medical examiner’s ruling that his death was a suicide by hanging. The family is adamant that the rock singer’s death was an accidental one, and not a premeditated suicide. As Vicky says in her statement: “After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind.”
His widow Vicky confirmed the report with a statement, “We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system.” She added in the statement that her husband did not seem to be himself that night and spoke in a manner that recalled his previous Oxycontin addiction almost a decade and a half ago. This news comes the same day that Vicky left note in remembrance of her husband on his Facebook page, following an open letter she made public a few days after he passed.
