LCD Soundsystem Announces New Album Is Complete And Will Be Released In Just A Few Weeks

Heart is pounding. Anticipation growing. The wait may finally be over for fans of the band, LCD Soundsystem. Their long awaited album is almost ready to be released to the world.

Back in January, James Murphy, frontman of the LCD had explained that they were “still working on it.” Now, it seems like the wait is over. The album that they have been working on is apparently recorded and finished. Murphy posted on the band’s Facebook page in the last 12 hours with the announcement saying that “we’re done with the record.”

According to the Facebook post which was put up by James Murphy says that music and mixing is completely finished, all that is left is; “just some art stuff to finish, but it’s been mastered already and the lacquers are winging their way to the pressing plant (which is, I think, where they’ll make the mothers and stampers, etc.).”

The album doesn’t have an official release date quite yet but fans can expect to be listening to the LCD’s new music in about 6 weeks from now, sometime in July. “6 weeks is the very fastest, I think, but it will likely be longer than that. just trying to get all the ducks in a row so that there’s someone with a catcher’s mitt waiting at each stage.”

Beside the Facebook post, the frontman also made the announcement during their set at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington. In between songs, Murphy told the crowd that the group “feel like we’ve knocked it out of the park with this one.”

The Facebook post also included some details on the reason behind the dale, Murphy continued with saying, “sorry it took so long, honestly. I didn’t think it would, but I, once again, underestimated the distractions inherent in touring and living a “life”. This will be the last record at the original DFA Studios, as we’re closing that down after the building was sold, so there’s a lot to digest for me. I’ve been there nearly 20 years now, and I wasn’t a particularly young man when it opened, so there’s that.”

The new album is yet to be titled but will be the fourth album to date and the follow-up to 2010’s This Is Happening. It will likely feature the singles recently released by the band. The two tracks were part of the band’s Sasquatch set as well as performed on Saturday Night Live. These songs give a sort of sneak peek for things to come for the band. “American Dream” and “Call the Police” both tracks came paired with videos and hints at vibes familiar to the band. The songs marked the band’s first since “Christmas Will Break Your Heart” which was released in 2015 to precede the group’s 2016 reunion tour.

You can take a listen to both songs here. There is more waiting to be found but don’t forget to throw that long awaiting release party. LCD Soundsystem is coming.
