Legendary Southern California DJ Ending Rodney on the Roq Program

In what can be considered sad news if your longtime radio listener,  Variety has reported that longtime LA radio show, “Rodney On The Roq”, will be ending after airing for 40 years. A milestone many radio shows have not met and due to shift in the music business towards streaming platforms, Rodney On the Roq will go down in history as one of the most beloved radio shows in history.

Rodney Bingenheimer made the announcement via Facebook that his last show will air 3 a.m. PT on Monday, June 5th.

Since August of 1976, Rodney has been blasting rock music through the airwaves while occasionally dipping into other genres. The Rodney On The Roq” show was one of the first shows to spin music from some of musics most acts. From Katy Perry, the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Duran Duran, Sublime, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The 69 year old radio legend does not plan to slow down hoping that his fans will follow him on his journey. It will be interesting to see what avenue he decides to take next. With decades of playing music on some of the most famous acts, it won’t be hard for him to find something that’ll lead to him living a fulfilling life. His hunger and enthusiasm for music was were chronicled in the documentary “Mayor Of The Sunstrip”.
