The Kooks @ Terminal 5 10/6

It didn’t take long for British indie-pop rockers The Kooks to make it huge. With their debut release Inside In/Inside Out followed by Konk, this sultry outfit (who also signed with Virgin Records) have been everywhere, buzzing to the top of the charts, and introducing a new wave of catchy tunes that are both commercial and sexy. Songs like “Seaside” and “She Moves in Her Own Way” are their made-for-TV tunes, while tracks like “See the Sun” and “Always Where I Need to Be” are made to be the anthem of your skin-baring summer.

They’ve released three more albums since then, the very latest a compilation album called The Best Of…So Far released on Astralwerks. It’s an album blaring with energy–an album you can definitely sing along to and dance along to–which will also remind you why you became so enamored with these guys to begin with, first starting back in 2006.

They’ll play their major hits when they come to perform in New York. They’ll also play some songs off their more recent albums that introduce a varied, more bluesy sound to their discography. But it’s one of those shows that will be the exact rush that you’d expect–sugar-pop tunes mixed with the naughty yet delicious edge of a one-night stand. The Kooks play Terminal 5 before heading over the bridge to Brooklyn Steel on October 7.
