The Avalanches Already Have Eight Songs Written for New Album

After an excruciating 16-year wait between the band’s first two excellent albums, fans of The Avalanches probably won’t have to wait long for a third LP. According to Pitchfork, The Avalanches mentioned in an interview that eight songs are currently written for anew album.

In an interview with Sydney-based radio station FBI Radio, the Australian band’s Robbie Chater talked about the studio sessions they have been conducting since being off of tour. He also elaborated that the electronic group is hard at work He mentioned that releasing Wildflower was a bit of an albatross that they were finally able to conquer and now music is flowing freely for the upcoming follow up. The group released their acclaimed debut Since I Left You way back in 2000, with plenty of false-starts in the time in between. Lastly, and most significantly, Chater spoke of “eight songs we’re playing to the label on Monday.” He hinted that there is no definite time-table but to expect new material “Who knows when [they’ll be out]? Next year? It’s definitely soon.”

The band is in the midst of summer 2017 tour, with performances at festivals like Governor’s Ball and Coachella, the former festival where the band performed with Spank Rock.

Stay tuned for any and all updates on the new music and check out the video for their single “Frankie Sinatra” below.
