Experimental rock band the Swans have a live recorded album entitled Deliquescence, and announced that it contains several lengthy songs that will never see the light of the recording studio. According to the band’s label’s website, the songs “have never been, and never will be, recorded elsewhere.” Don’t think this album could get anymore exclusive? It does. Swans will only be printing a total of 3000 copies and have already sold out all of their allotted web sales. If you’re a Swans fan and didn’t snag yourself a copy, don’y worry because you still have time. Additional copies will be available for purchase at the merch table of their upcoming tours. Each copy sold from the web and on tour will also be signed by Michael Gira.
The concert that provided audio for the live album took place on opposite sides of the world; one show in Huxley’s, Berlin, and another at the The Regency Ballroom, San Francisco. According to their website, “The performances were expertly (multi track and live mics) recorded and mixed, and this album and package serves as an excellent document of this mutually telepathic and fiercely exploratory version of Swans.”
Swans recently announced they’d be putting on a three-show final performance in New York City to commemorate their original roots. They’ll also be performing at the Off Festival this August alongside other headliners PJ Harvey and Feist.
