Indie Folk band Daughter is coming to Berkeley this fall. The English band will be hitting up the Greek Theatre on November 14th. They will be opening for the headlining band The National.
Daughter’s inception into the music scene came during 2010. The trio of musicians fronted by their vocalist, and only girl, Elena Tonra, the band has rose to prominence since their debut. The band’s most recent work came last year with the band’s sophomore album Not to Disappear. Popular songs from that album include the songs Doing the Right Thing, Numbers, How, and Made of Stone. Previous to that the band’s debut studio album came in 2013 with If You Leave. This album is known for the band’s most popular song Youth, my personal favorite song Smother, Touch, Still, and Shallows. The band has released four other EPs and a total of eight singles. Popular songs from their EPs include Medicine, Landfill, Candles, Home, Love, and Run. Daughter’s sound is romantic and full of melancholy. It’s compelling in terms of lyrical content and that alone coupled with Tonra’s vocals? A recipe for success. The band is a mix of indie folk, shoegaze, and dream pop, a masterful blend of styles.
Fans of Bat For Lashes, Jeff Buckley, and Cat Power will be down for this band. They are known for their fun sets and keeping their audiences engaged. Check this band out and hit up The Greek while you can grab a ticket!
