Lana Del Rey Releases New Song “Coachella – Woodstock On My Mind”

Lana Del Rey’s new track — “Coachella — Woodstock in My Mind” — is the thought-provoking result of an internal conflict simmering inside the artist while at April’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Last month, Del Rey teased her social media followers with the song, sharing a snippet to Instagram.

“I’m not gonna lie- I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w North Korea mount,” she captioned the video. “I find It’s a tightrope between being vigilantly observant of everything going on in the world and also having enough space and time to appreciate God’s good earth the way it was intended to be appreciated. On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song. I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual’s hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run.”

The Love singer also recently told Elle UK that American politics influenced her new album, announced in March.

“I think it would be weird to be making a record during the past 18 months and not comment on how (the political landscape) was making me or the people I know feel, which is not good,” the cover star for the magazine’s June issue said. “It would be really difficult if my views didn’t line up with what a lot of what people are saying.”

In the song, Del Rey contemplates having a conversation with God over a minimal electronic beat. The singer croons that she would “trade the fame and the fortune and the legend” to understand the world’s injustice.

The singer didn’t specify whether “Coachella” will appear on her upcoming Lust for Life, which includes recently issued singles “Love” and the title-track (featuring the Weeknd). The album, out May 26th, will also reportedly include a collaboration with Stevie Nicks.
