Washed Out have been fairly silent on Twitter over the last few months, with the band’s last post promoting their October appearance at Desert Daze in Joshua Tree. Today, the band posted a short GIF on Twitter, with a link to their homepage WashedOut.net. Their site features an aesthetic similar to the GIF, which simply reads “Take a hit and get lost” and allows visitors to sign up for the band’s official newsletter.
The teaser is so vague it is hard to tell if this is a promotion for a new tour, album, or even like Sigur Ros did a few days ago, a whole new festival. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see on this one. However, the band’s new profile picture on Facebook has the appearance of album artwork:
It’s been a few years since the band last released graced the world with their chillwave sound – 2013’s excellent Paracosm was the last full-length from the band. The band, which is essentially the project of Ernest Greene, has only released two albums over the course of their nine-year run as a group.
Those that are unfamiliar with the band probably have heard at least one piece of music from Greene. The song “Feel It Around” from the band’s 2011 debut Within and Without is featured over the opening credits of the Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen vehicle Portlandia.
