Singer Laura Stevenson is coming to the Bay Area and will be performing in San Francisco this spring. She will be playing Bottom of the Hill on July 26th. She will be touring on performer Jeff Rosenstock as the opener.
The New York native is known for her folk/indie rock sound. She is an activist of women’s right and it has influenced her music. Her most recent album was 2015’s Cocksure. That album is known for the songs Torch Song, Jellyfish, and Claustrophobe. Other than the the singer has released three other full length studio albums; this is includes her debut 2010 album A Record, 2011’s Sit Resist, and 2013’s Wheel. Other notable songs by Stevenson include Nervous Rex, Runner, Holy Ghost, Master of Art, and Mammals. Stevenson’s voice is unique in style and sound. The musician and activist is known for her philanthropy. For example, her first live album in 2016 was released in December of that year and she announced that all proceeds will go directly to Planned Parenthood. Stevenson is also a member of the music collective Bomb the Music Industry! Lyrically, Stevenson is impressive and follows the indie model. Her songs are introspective, sensitive, and full of feeling.
Fans of Lemuria, Slingshot Dakota, and Paul Baribeau will be down for this indie rock show. Stevenson is for the people and this theme really shines through in her music and her craft. Grab a ticket, it’s gonna be worth it!
