The National Announce New Album Sleep Well Beast for September 2017 Release and Fall 2017 World Tour Dates

The National are back.

Just last night, the group shared details on their upcoming album, Sleep Well Beast after teasing something with mysterious posters. Their seventh studio album and follow-up to 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me, will be out at the tail-end of the summer on Septebmer 8 via 4AD records. The Cincinnati-based indie rockers have been going strong since 1999, and their new effort doesn’t look to disappoint.

The new album was recorded at Aaron Dessner’s Long Pond studio in Hudson Valley, as well as a few other locations including L.A., Paris and Berlin. In addition to Dessner, Matt Berninger and Bryce Dessner added their Midas touch to production duties. Excited? Well there’s more.

In addition to the tracklist announcement, the band shared a new music video for their first new single, “The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness.” The driving new track plays over a drone-shot music video with visuals that resemble something out of a Predator movie, as Matt Berninger’s sultry vocals glide on top of everything. All indications point toward this album being pretty darn good.

Along with the new single and album details, The National also announced a world tour in support of the new album. The lineup includes appearances at Glastonbury and HAVEN festivals, and then a zig-zag back and forth between European and North American locations, wrapping up halfway through December in Chicago.

Check out the new video, tracklist, and tour dates below.
