Father John Misty Releases Impromptu Song About James Comey Following FBI Director’s Surprise Firing

In the latest of a series of unfortunate events at the hands of Donald Trump, the President abruptly fired FBI Director James Comey in the middle of the FBI’s investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia, citing Comey’s mishandling of the HRC email scandal as justification.

And a mere hours later, social commentator extraordinaire Father John Misty (né Josh Tillman), who just wowed America with self-aware criticism of the modern state with his record Pure Comedy, posted a video of himself on Twitter singing about Comey’s dismissal whilst eating a delicious-looking pizza slice.

The song, titled “James Comey was Fired (From the CIA)” (Tillman argued that CIA rhymed better, despite it being the wrong governmental organization) features FJM singing, not only about Comey, but also about the inane details of the Clinton emails (“Well he had Hillary’s e-mails/ And there was a recipe/ recipe for risotto”) and the disgraced former New York congressman Anthony Weiner.

The 53 second performance sounds not unlike a funeral dirge, but it is truly Pure Comedy gold. This Comey track is the latest addition to Tillman’s ever-growing songbook of political humor, including his Simon & Garfunkel-inspired song “I Am a Cuck” with Tim Heidecker.
