Melvins @ Great American Music Hall 7/10

Punk rock greats the Melvins are coming back and touring this summer! The band will be departing on their A Walk with Love and Death Tour and performing at the Great American Music Hall on July 10th of this summer. They will be performing alongside the band Spotlights.

The Melvins started out back in 1983 and were one of the notable bands who brought American  punk music to the forefront of the rock genre. The band announced recently that they would be releasing a new album this year, which is the purpose behind the this tour. Their most recent work was last year with 2016’s Basses Loaded. That album is known for the songs War Pussy, Hideous Woman, and The Decay of Living. To date the band has released an impressive 24 studio albums and countless EPs and limited edition releases. Their most popular and notable songs include Honey Bucket, Revolve, Night Goat, Boris, Goin’ Blind and Hooch. Their mastery of the post-punk, punk, and rock genre was influential to other punk rock bands at the time. Their slow and heavy combination of punk and metal music serves a fusion of sound that has been recreated by very few musicians since the band’s inception. They also have a weird combination of humorous and dark songs makes for an interesting classification of their music, truly making this band one of a kind.

Fans of Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, and Black Flag will be down for these rock legends. The band’s ability to stay autonomous and independent truly makes them one of a kind and amazing. This band’s history and influence within the rock genre as a whole is wholly impactful and great. Check them out and grab a ticket, because this is a show you’re not going to want to miss.
