Waxahatchee Releases Video for “No Curse” For Shaking Through, Showcasing Recording Sessions

Waxahatchee, the American indie music project formed in 2010 by singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield, has just released a stunning new music video for their track “No Curse,” featuring Crutchfield in a recording studio on the latest episode for Weathervane’s “Shaking Through.”

With a new Waxahatchee record, Out in the Storm, soon approaching its July 14th release date, perhaps Crutchfield is satiating fans’ rabid appetites for more music with the non-album cut.

“No Curse” was originally recorded a mere day after our 45th President’s election, adding symbolic meaning to the track. “In moments like this, moments of political turmoil, you should bring your skills to the table in a way that affects change or benefits people,” Crutchfield explains in the episode.

Fittingly, the new song is a defiant, anthemic rock number featuring crunchy guitars and Crutchfield’s signature cathartic vocals. “You got lost, you skim off the top/ You tell yourself it’s something it’s not/ It’s not me, it’s no curse or disease.”

Weathervane’s “Shaking Through” project is “an interactive series that gives select artists unparalleled opportunity to create new work. We share all the raw audio files, mix stems, recording notes and final mixes with members to download, remix, and re-imagine at will.” Of course, without membership you’ll still be able to listen to the finished product.
