Experimental super group Ex Eye, which features Colin Stetson on alto and bass sax, Greg Fox of Liturgy on drums, Shahzad Ismaily on synth and Toby Summerfield on guitar, have announced their signing with metal label Relapse Records. The first song to be released from the album is a 12-minute-plus adventure called “Opposition/Perihelion; The Coil.” In addition to the new song, the band will release a new album, which will be self-titled on June 23 through Relapse.
At times the track pushes the swirling saxophone work of its most famous member to the forefront of the mix, while in other moments it fades into the background as a complementary instrument. Check out the mathy, complex and altogether unexpected voyage that is the band’s first single below:
Ex Eye tracklist
1. “Xenolith; The Anvil”
2. “Opposition/Perihelion; The Coil”
3. “Anaitis Hymnal; The Arkose Disc”
4. “Form Constant; The Grid”
5. “TTen Crowns; The Corruptor” (Digital Only Bonus Track)
The band will be on tour this spring with a brief run of shows along the West Coast of the United States and Canada.
