You’re going to want to make sure your headphones are turned way up when you first press play on this new track, it’s mixed pretty quiet.
While Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and infamous Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo have collaborated before, the two are officially joining forces. Their new band, Dead Cross, is a brutal, no punches pulled hardcore supergroup consisting of the two metal heavyweights as well as members of Retox and Locust.
Now…their new track. Anything but gentle or relaxing, this new song indicates a very “no f*cks given” attitude, as the song beats you over the head with pounding drums (Lombardo does it better than anybody) and Patton screeches and groans and makes so many noises I never thought was humanly possible. This song will make you break your computer then go get in a fight in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1 AM in the span of under two minutes.
Their self-titled debut project is due out this summer (8/4) and reportedly less than half an hour long, with a cover of Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” contributing to the short project. The project was recorded with Ross Robinson, who has worked with virtually every metal band in the 90’s, as well as At the Drive-In for their Relationship of Command project and Blood Brothers’ Burn, Paino Island, Burn.
Take a deep breath, make sure there are no small children, and press play on their new song.
