Since the release of their debut album called Orthodox in 2013, LA rockers Beware of Darkness have been ripping through the scene like nobody’s business. They’ve been compared to indie artists like The Arctic Monkeys and Cage the Elephant, but they’ve carved their own path–showcasing an electric sound that’s super catchy as heard on the album’s first tracks called “Howl” and “Sweet Girl.” But this trio’s strength can also be found on tracks like “Life on Earth?” and “Hummingbird”–songs that venture towards vulnerability, as they willingly strip themselves of their edge and give in to their mysterious, more romantic side.
Since their debut on Bright Antenna Records, Beware of Darkness (Kyle Nicolaides, Daniel Curcio and Tony Cupito) has opened for rock icons like The Smashing Pumpkins and Soundgarden, they’ve played SXSW, and they’ve landed all over the Billboard charts. They’ve also released a second album called Are You Real? which takes their introductory sound and stretches it even further. The album opens with a bang–a song called “Muthafucka”–which pretty much sums up how they want you to experience their vibe as of late. “Forget who I was. This is who I am. Right now there is no past me. A new beginning is now now now.”
Beware of Darkness is also known for their zesty, sexified stage presence when playing live, so prepare for the chemistry–’cause they’ll be playing to you, hard.
